Soft Reset Nokia 9210 9500 9300

The format function reformats the internal drive and restores the device to a 'factory state'. This method should be used when all other attempts to fix your phone fail as it removes all data, applications, settings etc. But there's no problem if you have full backup, which makes it possible to restore all system contents within a couple of minutes...
To reformat your Communicator you have to:

  • remove the battery for several seconds and reconnect it

  • press and hold Ctrl+Shift+F until a format request appears

  • in 9210/9290 you will see the following message displayed:

    • In 9500/9300 the screen will look as follows:

    • press Format key to confirm. Formatting will start:

    • after formatting boot picture appears on screen, and the system starts with Startup settings.

    • Now you have a "fresh" internal file system. All Memory card contents remain untouched.

    • In 9210/9290 you will have to reinstall internal memory system contents from 9210 CD-ROM (All_Nokia_9210_Data.sis) or restore them from your Memory card or PC backup.

    • Nokia 9500/9300 users do not need to reinstall anything as all system files in these models are in ROM, but they can restore their settings and applications from Memory card or PC backup.

    chage skin nokia 9300 / 9500

Follow these three steps to install the Bliss skin:
    1. Transfer the folder '0x101F8EDC' and the file 'skinpath.txt' to your Communicator.

    2. Use the File manager in your phone to locate the files you just transfered and copy/paste the file 'skinpath.txt' to C:\System\Data\SkinConfig. Then copy/paste the folder '0x101F8EDC' to C:\System\skins\ (if you don't have a 'skins' folder, just create one).

    3. Reboot your phone.

The backgrounds for the skin can be found In the 'Blissbackgrounds' folder. The 'blissback' picture is to be used as your Desk wallpaper, and the two other pictures are to be used as backgrounds in the PowerDesk application. And the last one ('blissfront') can be used as a background on the front/phone side.

To remove the skin, or change to one of the default skins, you must delete or move the file 'skinpath.txt' from C:\System\Data\SkinConfig and reboot your phone.

NB: The 'Display' option under 'Control panel' will be unavailable when you use the skin.

how to reset the nokia 9500

    1. Turn off phone and take out battery
    2. Insert battery, and while it boots up press and hold Ctrl + Shift + F
    3. After a few seconds you will be asked if you want to format or cancel

I recommend having the device open when inserting the battery so you can press the combination quickly.

Remember that this erases everything in the machine and it becomes like when you bought it. (I guess you know it, but mentioned it just in case).
